On Wednesday, April 30th, the Los Angeles Lakers lost game 5 of their first round match in the playoffs to the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 103 to 96.
Having been down 3 games to 1 on April 27th, this was a must win game for the lakers to keep the series alive.
Going into this first round of playoffs many thought Lebron and the Lakers were bound to win in 5, but Anthony Edwards, star guard for the Wolves had a personal mission to send Lebron and his Lakers on vacation.
Averaging 26.8 points per game in this series Edwards was the driving factor in the win for this series.
When asked about being physical with Lebron, Edwards said “Imma be a pest to Lebron” and that he was.
With Lebron averaging 25.4 ppg and Luke with 30.2 ppg, they were still only able to secure one win in game 2 of the series.
With this series loss many fans are speculating whether an announcement is incoming on Lebron’s retirement.
This speculation is backed by the factor of his age, while he is still dominating at an all star level at the age of 40, he is currently facing an MCL sprain that he suffered in the game 5 loss.
With the win in this series the Wolves move on to the second round, where they will face the winner of the Houston Rockets led by their young leading scorer, Jalen Green, and the Golden State Warriors led by the all time three point leader Steph Curry.
